"CAR CYCLE OF DEPENDENCY" ~ Illustrator: Kasia Babis |
"Soon the chain reaction started in the parking lot
Waiting to bleed onto the big streets
That bleed out onto the highways
And off to others cities built to store (cars} ....
Well, aren't you feeling real dirty sitting in the parking lot
Waiting to bleed onto the big streets
That bleed out onto the highways"
"Convenient Parking" - Modest Mouse
"Even the MTA administrator is unhappy with current performance of the bus system."
Maryland Transit Administration - The State of Maryland continues to cement segregationist, classist, and racist bus system:
literally through painting historic streets red, in attempt to make buses go faster. But, No one cares. Often
cars have to go into the red "rapid" "dedicated" lanes to turn. The cost to enforce is horrendous. Why focus on punishing,
when there is a cooling type of transportation that merely needs rails, that is a critical part of Saving Baltimore from heat,
floods, and drought?
North Avenue paving and painting cost was excess of 11 million dollars, and this is a continuing cost, evidenced by the downtown
crumbling painted red "dedicated' lanes.
It is a never-ending drain cost, when there is a logical, sustainable, child-laborless, light, zero carbon emission, and
runs on rails still ready for use that are nearly 150 years old (just have to remove the cement on top) that grasses and other
plants can replace concrete and asphalt.
Lets look at the difference between what we had, and what is commanded by the State of Maryland, a complete waste of money,
and continues to choose poverty as the way of - well, it is not of the past, but their own concoction. It is the destruction
to continue to be car-centric.
Baltimore being an Urban Heat Island with Greenhouse Effect dictating complete flooded areas, the last thing is more concrete,
cement, and asphalt, especially dark colors, like grey-black, and red. With hundreds of pedestrians and cyclists dying yearly,
never mind the thousands of car crash deaths - blood on Maryland Department of Transportation. How long will people put up
that our streets, roads, stroads, and highways do not only work, but kill? WHEN? The resistance and superior thinking to
avoid looking at the rest of the world is astonishing, and the downfall of the United States. We must start with infrastructure
so that Baltimore and State of Maryland is livable 100 years from now. It is the Ant or Grasshopper choice. Federal Government
list East Coast to save: Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York. Baltimore City must fend for itself. Busses were never
made for 250+ year old - streets.
"Kevin B. Quinn Jr., who oversaw the 2017 BaltimoreLink bus system overhaul, the troubled Purple Line light rail project in
the D.C. suburbs, and the debut of the MTA’s CharmPass mobile ticketing app, will lead TransLink, formally known as
the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority." [Don't forget 100's of millions on red painted BRT, only for
crumbled and potholed by cars and trucks - and never busses on time! A Quinn Production too!]
It's easy to say nice things about a person, especially when one never uses their buddy's product, - especially taking a Baltimore
City bus. Kevin B. Quinn Jr., a Silver Spring native, never lived in Baltimore, much less ever tried, taking his own concoction.
At least the entire United States is freed from continuous and dramatic failures.
"Worker Shortage Causing Transit Cancellations in Greater Baltimore; Here's How to Address It" - The Baltimore Sun (2022)
"We have numerous residents who are looking for meaningful employment, but are held back by limited transit options.
This program will provide stability to residents by helping them get to and from work during their initial pay period. I
want to thank Lyft for helping make this possible."
- Mayor Brandon Scott, April 2022
EVEN MAYOR SCOTT KNOWS MARYLAND TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT, AND WILL NOT DELIVER ON-TIME SERIVCE IN PROMOTIONAL
CLAIMS....
BALTIMORE CITY'S LOCAL TRANSIT, THE CHARM CITY CIRCULAR, SERVES MORE WELL TO DO, AND OFFERS REDUNDENCY
FOR COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES THAT ALREADY PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSIT HAVE FREE TRANSIT, LEAVING FINANCIALLY POOR
TO DAILY FINANCIALLY SUPPORT MTA, WHICH IS SEGREGATIONIST, CLASSIST, AND RACIST.
REGIONAL TRANSIT KILLS BALTIMORE CITY. BALTIMORE CITY IS AN, "INDEPENDENT" CITY, THE LARGEST IN THE UNITED
STATES, AND CANNOT BE DEPENDING ON ANY ONE ELSE.
TAKE CARE OF BALTIMORE CITIZENS - WHO WANT TO GET TO WORK ON TIME, MEET THEIR KIDS ON TIME AT SCHOOL, NOT SPEND HOURS
WAITING AT NEARLY HIDDEN BUS STOPS WITH NO SHARE, NOWHERE TO SIT, NOT HAVE FOOD MELT AND SPOIL, AND BE STANDING IN CROWDED
BUSSES, IN CAR-STORAGE TRAFFIC OF THOSE WHO DO NOT LIVE HERE.
STATEWIDE TRANSIT HELPS HEAL AND OFFERS FREEDOM & INDEPENDENCE TO MOVE ABOUT - IN BALTIMORE CITY, AND
THROUGHOUT THE STATE.
MAYOR SCOTT DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THAT "PARTNERING" WITH "BALTIMORE REGIONAL" GROUPS, EVEN LOBBYING ORGANIZATIONS NON-PROFIT
AND FOR-PROFIT ARE HURTING ME, HURTING EVERY CITZEN; THROUGH EVERYTHING HE CLAIMS HE IS FOR, "EQUITY & EQUALITY." BUT MAYOR
SCOTT DOES NOT PAY OR RIDE CRAPPY MTA SYSTEM, WHICH BREEDS, VIOLENCE, EXPANDING INEQUITY, AND INEQUALITY.
FAILURE "Why Navigating Transit With Your Telephone is Hard" - RM Transit (2022)
ON BALTIMORE CITY'S CURRENT RAILS UNDER STREETS, AND STATEWIDE DEDICATED LANED STREETCARS, OF COURSE - SO WE CAN
STILL LIVE HERE WITH GREENHOUSE EFFECT.

BROKEN PROMISES: BALTIMORE CITY MAYORAL RACE QUOTE 2020 |
Having to get a hefty automobile loan is not an answer. It is wrong to put people into debt, especially
at inception; when one does not know whether a job will work out. This is the epitome result of having The State
of Maryland, focused on suburb "drive to" transit, not Baltimore City citizen and resident pollute-less people (autoloo) needs
for 52 years 52 years keeping people from simply - being on time for appointments and work, even when leaving extra
early. Keep people in poverty....

Maryland Delegate Nino Mangione (he and his family own WCBM 50,000 Watt Radio Station) Friday, January 13th, 2023 on Morning
Drive with Sean Casey and Bruce Elliott"
2:39:30 Makes sense, strength of Marijuana needs to be capped.
2:41:00 School Bus Drivers [Notice, never mentions that these kids are county kids only: That none of the kids can be city
kids because they take city buses.]
2:42:00 #1 Reason for School Absenteeism is Violence on Buses, which precedes school.
2:42:48 County Malls [Contends that they all must be city kids {I ask, Why never Mondawmin then????}]
2:45:00 [Avoids stating Baltimore City temperature.] Listen to how all is lumped together - going into "squeegee kids..."
[I don't know how city kids get to go to county schools... Why racially motivated, but just short, injecting "squeegee" instead
of the "black" word
2:47:00 LIGHT RAIL HATRED. Same people, but older with racial hatred (originally Towson stops with current line not near
homes) not wanting any public transportation in Baltimore County. Calls Baltimore City residents, "Problems."
In 2016, in the US, the lowest earning 20% of the population earned an average of $11,933, and spent an average of $3497 (29%)
on transportation costs. The poorest get hit the hardest by the (lack of) transport system. For those making roughly
$30,000 a year, their transportation expenditure was about 22%, then 17% for the next quintile. As Americans move from lower
to higher income, the portion of their expenditure going towards transportation decreases. This makes sense. Personal vehicles
are not cheap, and are not subsidized. Because American cities fail to provide people with alternative transportation options,
people are forced to travel by personal vehicles. This leaves people with low incomes left with few options. While criticisms
of lack of public transportation focus on the toll to the environmentshould also consider the issue of equity.
Lack of public transportation is a financial burden – by not having good options, people are forced to make
burdensome financial decisions and are left in a cycle of poverty that becomes harder to escape."
"In the US, there is a narrative that if people work hard, then they can get out of poverty, but we've built
cities that make this narrative impossible. For households making less than $20,000 per year, reliable cars are a pipe
dream: a huge expense that they can't afford. Without adequate transit, they will remain stuck in place." - Joe Chestnut,
ITDP, Indicators for Sustainable Mobility Report
Implementing fairer and shared ways to commute and decreasing car dependency by promoting free and accessible public transportation
are some of the many ways municipalities can alleviate transport poverty. .... Initiatives to reduce urban sprawl could also
decrease private car use. ....
Although cities have an important role to play, transport poverty is also a national issue. If we want a Just (Energy)
Transition, national and European policies should make sure mobility remains accessible and affordable for everyone."
"Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott (D) on Thursday recalled the map, referring to Hogan as “he who shall not be named”
and to the cancellation as, 'a deliberate and catastrophic disinvestment.' Scott described the city's dysfunctional transit
system with a personal anecdote: to get from his Northwest Baltimore neighborhood to his Northeast Baltimore high school,
he would wake up at 5 a.m. to catch a 5:30 a.m. bus to get to school by 8 a.m."
"In recent months the financial curtains of the Red Line have parted to reveal a $250-million “hole” in the construction
budget – the result of rising Red Line costs (now projected at $2.6 billion {2014}) and a lower share of expected
federal funding."
