with doorbells and grocery store food lists, and automobiles traveling with or without humans at the wheel. It is often

What is a "Free Radical"?
Simply, a free radical is an atom or molecule that has too few electrons equal to its amount of protons, and
becomes imbalanced. They are capable of interacting in rapid chain reactions that destabilize other atoms and molecules
and generate many more free radicals. Here is a more in-depth definition:
"A free radical can be defined as any molecular species capable of independent existence that contains an unpaired electron
in an atomic orbital. The presence of an unpaired electron results in certain common properties that are shared by most radicals.
Many radicals are unstable and highly reactive. They can either donate an electron to or accept an electron from other molecules,
therefore behaving as oxidants or reductants. The most important oxygen-containing free radicals in many disease states
are hydroxyl radical, superoxide anion radical, hydrogen peroxide, oxygen singlet, hypochlorite, nitric oxide radical, and
peroxynitrite radical. These are highly reactive species, capable in the nucleus, and in the membranes of cells of damaging
biologically relevant molecules such as DNA, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. Free radicals attack important macromolecules
leading to cell damage and homeostatic disruption. Targets of free radicals include all kinds of molecules in the body. Among

Simply, radiation is the transfer of energy in the form of waves or particles through space and matter. It
occurs naturally, such as from our sun called, "solar radiation," and manmade. There are two forms – ionized;
high kinetic energy and hence the ability to ‘ionize’ atoms or molecules, and non-ionized; which
is unable to ionize the matter it’s passing through. The ionizing form in particular is harmful to humans,
as the kinetic energy that this radiation possesses is strong enough to break the chemical bonds that comprise organic matter.
