Greetings. Welcome to Serenade's Mentorship Program!
I was led to incorporate a mentorship program
as part of Serenade's purpose because in my own life I found myself in times of despair and it sure could of helped to go
through those specific situations with people who had already gone through such things. I could have been saved the torment;
physical, mental, and material loss, and heart upheaval. Though I continued costly lessons, in 1999 I began to write about
my thoughts of tie importance of mentorship. In 2000, I wrote a Peace Resolution which I chose the time it was introduced
and was passed unanimously in Baltimore in April 2001. It states, "RESOLVED, an exemplary "Peace City" is a city that does
not use or promote anyone or product hurting any of its citizens, chooses to concentrate its energy on mentoring, works with
the vision that opportunity and prosperity is indeed unlimited for all, integrates efficient land allocation and conservation,
and is not afraid to say compassionate love is the central focus of politics."
I have dealt with horrid living conditions
due to sub-standard landlord decisions to not care for their property. I have dealt with being robbed - inside and outside
my homes. I have dealt with being homeless. I have spent time choosing and researching mental illness due to it personally
affecting my life in the past. There was also abuse and violence beyond measure. I have cared for elders and babies and many
in between. I have served as caregiver of multiple city neighborhoods needing the most love. I have dealt with death and with
much, much loss. I am here to share that it is possible to connect. It is possible to love life. The relationships of master/disciple
teacher/student are possible. It is Serenade's Mentorship Program mission to repair and ignite their importance for critical
connection. There are of course not enough mentors for kids, but even less are there programs for adults. And, I believe,
in focusing on situation specific mentorship relationships, those adults - with support WILL be their children's mentors.
The rightful mentors. They will become heroes.
Bless you.
